AI coding tool alternatives and comparisons

The AI coding market spent the last year churning: free tiers retired, subscriptions turned into meters, tools got acquired or shut down outright. Every post here exists because one of those changes stranded real developers, and "just pick another tool" is useless advice without specifics.

These are honest comparisons. Where a competitor is genuinely better for your situation, the post says so, including when that competitor is not us. Most include a feature-by-feature table, current pricing with the date we verified it, and a migration path if you decide to move.
